CLAT 2025 Row: Supreme Court Transfers All Result-Related Cases to Delhi High Court

In a significant development, the Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the transfer of all cases related to the Common Law Admission Test 2025 (CLAT) undergraduate results to the Delhi High Court. The move aims to prevent conflicting judgments on the same issue, as petitions concerning the exam were pending before multiple High Courts.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna and Justices PV Sanjay Kumar and KV Viswanathan directed,

“List before Delhi High Court on March 3. Within 7 days of this order, the registrar of each High Court should send the papers (of the concerned case pending before them) to Delhi High Court.”

The decision follows a plea by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLU Consortium), which sought a consolidated hearing on the matter. Currently, cases are pending before the Delhi, Rajasthan, and Punjab & Haryana High Courts.

Controversy Over CLAT UG Errors

The dispute stems from a ruling by Delhi High Court’s single-judge bench, Justice Jyoti Singh, who partially allowed a petition by 17-year-old CLAT candidate Aditya. He had challenged alleged errors in the question paper. The Court found two out of five flagged questions to be erroneous and directed the Consortium to revise the results accordingly.

While the NLU Consortium opposed the ruling, arguing that courts should not override expert evaluations, Aditya sought further corrections for three additional questions. Both parties challenged the single-judge order before the Division Bench.

CLAT PG Also Under Scrutiny

In a related controversy, the CLAT postgraduate (PG) exam results are being contested before the Madhya Pradesh and Bombay High Courts over discrepancies in the answer key.

With the Supreme Court’s latest directive, the fate of thousands of CLAT aspirants now hinges on the Delhi High Court’s final ruling.
