National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) has announced the appointment of Senior Advocate Harish Salve as a Distinguished Professor, marking another milestone in its effort to bring eminent legal minds into its academic leadership.
Harish Salve, one of India’s most celebrated lawyers, currently serves as King’s Counsel for the courts of England and Wales. His illustrious legal career spans decades, including his tenure as Solicitor General of India from 1999 to 2002, where he represented the country in landmark cases before Indian courts and international tribunals. His expertise ranges from constitutional law and commercial disputes to public international law.
Welcoming the appointment, NLU Delhi Vice-Chancellor Prof GS Bajpai said, “Mr Salve’s association with National Law University Delhi will be highly inspirational to the students, researchers and faculty members.” He further added that apart from delivering lectures, Salve will guide the University’s academic vision in the field of legal profession and practice, strengthening the bridge between academia and the practical world of law.
Salve’s appointment follows the University’s earlier move this year to bring former Chief Justice of India, Dr Justice DY Chandrachud, on board as a Distinguished Professor—reflecting NLU Delhi’s commitment to exposing students to the insights and mentorship of top legal figures.
